Pianist Alexander Sokol (rus. Александр Сокол) immigrated to Canada in 2005 and immediately joined the Canadian musical scene. Born in Kharkov, Ukraine, he became a laureate at the All-Russia Piano Competition and went on to win two prestigious international competitions in Italy - the Carlo Soliva Piano competition and Rina Sana Gallo Piano Competition, resulting in critically acclaimed European concert tours.
Alex Sokol studied with renowned piano professors I.I. Naumova and L.N. Naumov at the Moscow's Gnessin College and then continued his musical education in Nizhny Novgorod's Music Academy. There he earned a Master's Degree in Piano Performance, was appointed to the piano faculty as an Assistant Professor of the Nizhny Novgorod Academy, and became a scholar at the post-graduate level.
Prior to his immigration to Canada, Alexander held the position of Associate Professor at Israel's prestigious Rubin Music Academy in Tel-Aviv. As well, he has given solo and chamber music performances though Israel and Europe.
A talented Canadian pianist Eli Karpinsky is one of the students of Alexander Sokol.
